My work experience has given me an opportunity to practice what I learn in educational studies classes and to apply the collaboration I develop in Spanish classes. Click the links below to read in detail about connections to courses and more.
Gould Library Reference Internship

In the R&I Department of Gould Library, I get to think broadly about librarianship, including research practices, the future of the discipline, and the rise of AI. I have also developed digital presentation skills by building this ePortfolio and editing online research guides. To top it off, the most rewarding part of my internship is sitting at the reference desk and helping students with their research needs, which brings together my knowledge of librarianship, collaboration, and education.
Mathnasium

Mathnasium is a unique tutoring setting, entirely math-focused and disconnected from the school system. Working here, I built a relationship with each student while learning how to navigate a proprietary curriculum. This experience has been immensely valuable to me in learning how to gradually discover the instruction methods that work best for every student through constant reflection and conversation.
Rosemount High School Summer School

In summer school, I have worked in a variety of settings, including traditional classrooms, PE and health classes, and course completion, a room students can go to if they aren’t responding well to the traditional classroom teaching in their other classes. This space also functions as a welcoming space for students who need a safe space or other resources. In summer school, I learned the enormous value of the classroom as a space for people and learned to incorporate my humanity into my instruction.
Other tutoring experiences

I have also dabbled in tutoring on a private, one-on-one basis, through education classes, at volunteer events, and in a small startup developing its own curriculum. I’ve gotten a taste of many different settings and structures, and I have my opinions on what supports learning and what inhibits it.
