I’m in what the cool kids call an “exploratory phase” — I’m working on exploring my interests and honing my skills so that I can take a more definite direction in the future. Right now, that looks like internship searches and informational interviews.

Something I know for sure is that I want to apply the skills I have from my Spanish major through immersion. This goal led me to apply for Carleton’s Spanish Studies in Madrid program, which takes place next fall, and to look into opportunities to teach English abroad after graduating.

To give some idea of where I might want to end up after graduating, here is a list of fields and graduate degrees I have considered:

  • Master’s in Library and Information Science with the goal of being a reference librarian
  • Translation and Interpreting
  • PhD in Spanish
  • Secondary education in Spanish
  • Train conductor (age 5-8)

During the summer of 2024, I hope to obtain an internship in a library or archives, where I can continue to apply my skills from my time in the Reference & Instruction Internship and broaden my horizons to new areas of library service.
